As I always say, every country on earth and her inhabitants have morid pasts and reconciliation to any allegiance requires an admission of wrong doing (21st century ushering in repentance) than a communal way of sharing and giving thanks to a Creator in peace.
One day set aside to honor and celebrate each others existence, to comfort the lonely or invite a stranger to your home with an open yet guarded heart, to reconcile truths from prejudices. The going gets good as our country painstakingly steps forward to change unholy thinking.
Responsibility. Its a virtue for the strong to survive.
Thanksgiving in the 21st can mean more than skewed hidden histories in America. For me, and many, it can continue to be a Special Day of Equality for all as we ask ourselves, "what can I do for MY country" as opposed to "what should my country DO for ME" ..
